Best On-the-Water Fun — Cleveland Floaters

Jim Kukral turns a sunset cruise on the Cuyahoga into a funny, cathartic escape where worries dissolve.

Jim Kukral has been through a lot, which makes him want to help other people who have been through a lot. That’s why this year, Kukral started Cleveland Floaters, an excursion experience on the Cuyahoga River.

“The world’s messed up,” he says. “Can we just get on a boat on a river in Cleveland for a couple hours and get along, put our phones away and just relax?”

Kukral offers Sink Your Worry Sunset Cruises twice a month, featuring improv actors Tyler Coventry and Halle St. John, who perform a three-act show (with Kukral performing as the Admiral).

It’s meant to be fun, but it’s not a typical booze cruise. It’s also designed to be cathartic, with participants writing their worries on paper and then watching them dissolve in the waters of Lake Erie. (Kukral notes that they can’t actually throw them into the lake; they use a bucket of lake water.)

“We want fun, thoughtfulness and weirdness,” Kukral says. clevelandfloaters.com
