In Love with Western New York: Nurtured by Nature
Discover how the Roger Tory Peterson Institute combines art and nature for a truly unique and relaxing experience.
The two seamlessly connect at Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, a living Peterson Field Guide experience housing the renowned artist-naturalist’s works and artifacts. “We continue his legacy by using art to foster exploration, a sense of discovery and reverence for life,” says curator Maria Ferguson, noting that his letters, personal guides, cameras and clothing are all on display.
Explore 27 acres of nature preserve and trails or head indoors to take in exhibits, including “Kevin Ebi: Five Minutes in Nature,” April 27 to July 21, which is accompanied by mindfulness activities. “He wants people to connect to the nature they walk by every day and better appreciate it, so he is sharing his experience of nature as a reason to explore the outdoors,” Ferguson relates. rtpi.org
